WATCH: Black Reverend At George Floyd Memorial Lays Into BLM

“My goodness, this violence… and if black lives matter so damn much, I wish black people would stop killing each other. So as far as I’m concerned, black lives don’t matter because they’re murdering each other”, said a Reverend at the site of George Floyd’s arrest in Minneapolis.

While not holding back on his criticism of the police officers involved, he surprised onlookers with his strong support for more police funding and his lack of support for BLM. (Transcription and video below)

“…I’m blessed, I’m Reverend Russell, how are you? I’m gonna bury my niece over at WorldWide Ministries (3808 Chicago Ave), and unfortunately, these kids are getting this heroin, 23 years old with a two-year-old, but everyone… I’m a 27-year addicted survivor, people, there are addictions, but we need to figure out what brought us there. But the first thing we gotta do is to admit we have a problem. You can’t do nothin’ about nothin’ unless you admit to the problem. This (the George Floyd incident) is a problem! 8 minutes and 46 seconds! We’re not having this in Minnesota, sister…

God bless you for sharing a little of your time, this is what we do, and whenever our country goes through these trials and tribulations, like the assassination of the Kennedys and Dr. King and so forth, our nation does better when we’re together. I’ve seen this movie; it’s just different characters, but we are these United States, and to Minnesota, we’re not having our good name muddied like that. …

My goodness, this violence… and if black lives matter so damn much, I wish black people would stop killing each other. So as far as I’m concerned, black lives don’t matter because they’re murdering each other. Fifty-five homicides to date (in Mpls this year) and three of ‘em was three nephews of mine—three of ‘em! Gone! Black lives matter… Black lives matter my bald head!”
