A 33-year-old man armed with a knife was arrested after allegedly attacking a group of Trump supporters at a rally in Aliso Viejo, CA., according to CBS Los Angeles/KCAL9.com.

“He took his hand way back like he was going to punch me, and [he] hit me right across the face,” 84-year-old Donna Snow said. “Broke my earrings off.”

Fortunately for Snow—not so fortunate for the attacker—a retired police officer was there. The officer drew his pistol and detained the man, Alvin Gary Shaw, before he could flee the scene.

Shaw was taken into custody on suspicion of elder abuse, assault and battery, and assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

“This could have been a very serious incident,” Sgt. Dennis Breckner said. “In this case, this was just two groups that disagree, and while we support people and their using their First Amendment rights to put out their message, we prefer that that remain peaceful.”

Have you ever seen it so dangerous to support a sitting president?
