Fatal Shooting at George Floyd Square: VIDEO on Scene

One person died in a shooting at the George Floyd memorial in Minneapolis on Saturday. Dozens of people were gathered for a protest ahead of the trial of Derek Chauvin. They ran for cover.

Video taken at the scene shows the immediate reaction and confusion after the shooting. You see people hide behind cars, then run to the victim. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Eyewitnesses say two people came out of a store next to the memorial, arguing before shots rang out. A car was also reportedly involved in the shooting.

Minneapolis Police Department spokesman John Elder said the shooting followed a ‘verbal disagreement.’ The suspect has not yet been identified or apprehended, and the victim’s name has not been released. The site of the shooting is the same intersection where George Floyd was killed last year.
