Can you believe this quote from Orwell’s “1984” was NOT written this year? See how Pres. Trump prevented it from becoming true

“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”

From George Orwell’s ‘1984

Eerie, isn’t it? As if it was written this year, not in 1949? Of course, these are words from the book’s main character, Winston Smith, a clerk in ‘The Ministry of Truth.’ His job was to revise the past by rewriting it to help the totalitarian government–a.k.a. Big Brother–destroy individual freedom by controlling peoples’ thoughts. If they can remember the past, they might not accept the government’s version of the present and future, so the past has to be corrected.

Remember a couple of months ago when historic statues were being torn down almost daily by angry mobs with a similar goal of erasing the past? You haven’t heard of many mob statue or monument attacks lately, have you? It could be the mainstream media simply isn’t covering those as much—they do pick and choose topics that fit their prevailing narratives. But statues are actually not being torn down as often. Why the sudden change in mob behavior towards statues?

It seems the actions of our law and order President have proven effective against the leftist mobs, just as his efforts were against another statue-hating group with similar zealotry—ISIS. Remember them? Thanks to President Trump’s tactical leadership and fierce backlash, ISIS isn’t in the news much these days either. Let’s just say Trump hit the pause button on their imminent world domination.

So what caused the turning point with our domestic terrorist statue-tippers? On June 26, 2020, President Trump signed an executive order instructing the Dept. of Justice to “prosecute to the fullest extent permitted under Federal law” anyone who damages government monuments or participates in “efforts to incite violence.” Damaging Federal monuments is punishable by up to 10 years in prison. “These people should be immediately arrested. A disgrace to our Country!” the president tweeted after a statue was removed in Washington. He also threatened to withhold federal funding to cities that have “surrendered to mob rule” and allowed protesters to tear down statues and monuments.

Trump’s executive order has proven effective in pausing leftists’ Orwellian history revision, regarding statutes and monuments at least.

You have to wonder if a similar crackdown on our ‘mostly peaceful’ rioters and looters would likewise decrease their destructive behavior. Could the threat of a decade spent in a ‘mostly peaceful prison’ have a calming effect on them as well?

What are your thoughts?
